HBS Attorneys To Present Seminar on Public School Disciplinary Proceeding to Educate Area Families on March 10, 2007
On March 10, 2007, attorneys Erik Guenther and Marcus Berghahn are presenting a free seminar to educate parents, students and lawyers on the law relating to public school disciplinary proceedings. The seminar is titled, “Preventing and Defending School Discipline Proceedings” and is free to the public.
In this workshop attendees will:
* Get advice on your rights/ responsibilities as a student and parent/guardian in the public schools when talking with the police and Educational Resource Officers;
* Learn what to say and do when you have been accused of committing a crime;
* Learn what happens when you are suspended for a violation of the student code of conduct and recommended for expulsion;
* And more, based on your questions and comments.
* Snacks will be provided. Students in grades 6-12 are encouraged to participate
The seminar will be held at St. Paul AME Church located at 4525 Diamond Drive, Madison, WI. The seminar runs from 1 - 3 p.m and is sponsored by A.I.F.R.E. (Advocacy Institute For Racial Equality). In order to register in advance, please leave your contact information at 608.831.9049.
